Iran and Oman discuss future of Hormuz Strait
Iran and Oman held the first meeting of their joint committee on the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said.
The meeting in Muscat discussed current issues related to the strait and its future management, he said.
“We exchanged views on the future management of the strait within the framework of the fifth article of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and the sovereign rights of coastal states,” Gharibabadi wrote on X.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil and liquefied natural gas shipping routes, handling a significant share of global energy exports.
