Reuters: Russia’s Saratov refinery halts after drone attack
Russia’s Saratov oil refinery stopped processing crude on Wednesday after a Ukrainian drone attack damaged one of its key processing units, Reuters reported, citing two industry sources.
According to the sources, the refinery halted oil processing after the strike.
Reuters said the Rosneft-owned refinery processed 5.8 million tonnes of crude in 2024, accounting for about 2.2% of Russia’s total refining capacity. It produces diesel fuel, gasoline and fuel oil.
The attack comes as Russia faces fuel shortages following a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on oil infrastructure. Earlier attacks forced the suspension of operations at Omsk and other major refineries.
