The wounded captain of a Flydubai flight and his co-pilot who attacked him have been flown from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi following the airliner's emergency diversion to Tabuk, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on X.

The ministry stated that with medical clearance following condition stabilization, both crew members departed the kingdom for Abu Dhabi under security escort on Thursday. Preliminary findings by Saudi authorities confirmed that the first officer inflicted multiple stab wounds on the captain during the flight from Dubai to Israel in an attempt to seize control of the aircraft.

The assailant was overpowered inside the cockpit by a passenger and cabin crew member, enabling an emergency landing in Tabuk. Stranded passengers were later ferried to Tel Aviv on a replacement aircraft as Israeli officials classified the assault as an attempted terrorist act.
