Azerbaijan’s population grows, but fewer people are getting married

Azerbaijan’s population increased by 32,109 people, or 0.3%, since the start of 2025, reaching 10,256,998 as of November 1, according to the State Statistics Committee.

Official data shows that 54.4% of the population lives in urban areas and 45.6% in rural areas. Men account for 49.8% of the population and women for 50.2%.

The committee also reported a slight decline in marriages: the number of marriages per 1,000 people fell from 4.9 to 4.8 compared with the same period last year, while the divorce rate decreased from 2.1 to 2.0.
