More than 50 village names changed in Azerbaijan over past decade
The process of restoring toponyms in Azerbaijan is ongoing. More than 50 villages have been renamed over the past 10 years, said President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician Isa Habibbeyli, during the republican conference titled “Mother tongue: identity and future” held with the participation of young people.
He stated that new place names are being adopted by the Toponymy Commission under the Milli Majlis. Recently, the names of three villages in the Guba district were updated.
