Azerbaijan statistics committee involves students in tourism surveys
Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee has involved university students in selective statistical surveys on tourism.
The surveys are being conducted at Heydar Aliyev International Airport among foreign visitors and stateless persons who travelled to Azerbaijan.
The aim is to collect data needed for official statistics, including the purpose of visits, length of stay, accommodation, travel expenses and other indicators.
The interviewers involved in the surveys received prior training covering the methodology of statistical observations, communication with respondents and ethical conduct.
The committee said involving students would help young specialists gain practical knowledge in official statistics. The collected data will be used only for statistical purposes, while the confidentiality of personal information will be protected in line with legislation.
