More than 70 international outlets cover Aliyev’s Germany visit

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Germany was covered by more than 70 international media outlets, analytical centres and financial portals, state news agency AZERTAC said.

German government websites Bundesregierung.de and Bundespraesident.de, as well as DPA, Deutsche Welle, Stern, News.de and Klamm.de, published reports on Aliyev’s meetings with Chancellor Friedrich Merz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The reports focused on bilateral cooperation, security issues and developments in the South Caucasus.

N-TV, Die Zeit, Deutschlandfunk, Deutsche Welle, Berliner Zeitung and Energy News Magazine, as well as MarketScreener, Onvista and Business Panorama, highlighted Germany’s plans to increase imports of Azerbaijani oil and gas.

The publications also noted Azerbaijan’s role in diversifying Europe’s energy supplies.

Yahoo Finance, Deutsche Börse, Welt and Handelsblatt reported on the creation of an Azerbaijani-German business council, joint economic projects and the outcome of the talks.

Some German outlets also cited comments by Aliyev and Merz on reports of informal contacts between former German and Russian politicians in Baku.

Reuters, Bloomberg, US News, Kyiv Post, Meduza, TASS, Kommersant, RBC, Lenta.ru, The Moscow Times and Forbes Russia focused mainly on statements made at the joint press conference.

AZERTAC said the level of international coverage showed that the visit was viewed as significant not only for Azerbaijani-German relations but also for European energy security, transport routes and regional geopolitics.
