Heavy rain and flooding expected in Azerbaijan

Heavy rain is expected in Azerbaijan, the National Hydrometeorological Service said in a warning.

Intermittent rain is forecast in Baku and some areas of the Absheron Peninsula on Sept. 29. Short-term heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible in some parts of the peninsula.

Rain is expected in parts of Azerbaijan from Sept. 29 until the evening of Sept. 30. Some areas could see intense and heavy showers, thunderstorms and hail, while snow is possible in high-mountain areas.

The expected wet weather could raise water levels in rivers. Short-term flooding and mudflows are possible in some rivers in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus and the Lankaran-Astara region.
