The Ganja Automobile Plant Production Union will begin exporting its tractors to Turkey and other international markets, the head of the plant’s Supervisory Board, MP Khanlar Fatiyev, said on Monday.

“Work on export plans has been underway for several years, and a recently signed contract will facilitate access to Turkey and other markets,” Fatiyev said.

The announcement follows a memorandum signed on May 5 during a high-level meeting between the prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Belarus, Ali Asadov and Alexander Turchin, aimed at expanding cooperation on the supply of tractor equipment. The document was signed by Fatiyev and the Director General of Minsk Tractor Plant, Sergey Avramenko.

A separate agreement on the supply of components for municipal vehicles was signed between the Ganja plant and Minsk Automobile Plant.

Fatiyev noted that industrial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus has flourished since President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Minsk in 2006, with active joint work beginning in 2007.

Currently, the Ganja plant produces 700–800 tractors annually and has long been manufacturing municipal equipment, including garbage trucks under a trilateral partnership with Germany’s Haller, Minsk Automobile Plant, and Ganja Automobile Plant.
