bp chief executive Meg O’Neill will make her first visit to Baku this year, according to sources in energy circles.

The visit is expected to focus on BP’s current and future projects in Azerbaijan, as well as the company’s cooperation with SOCAR.

O’Neill officially took over as BP chief executive on April 1, 2026, becoming the first woman to lead the British energy company. BP is currently carrying out a major restructuring and asset optimisation programme, but its Azerbaijani operations remain one of the company’s strategic priorities.

Over 33 years of operations in Azerbaijan, BP has invested about $90 billion in projects in the country. The company also plans to sign two new agreements with SOCAR in 2026.
