Azerbaijan’s international freight volume reached 7 mln tonnes in 2025
International freight transportation through Azerbaijan reached 7 million tonnes in 2025, with the country conducting cargo operations with 52 nations, Subhan Abilov, head of the freight transportation department at the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), said.
According to Abilov, Azerbaijan is introducing digital solutions to improve the efficiency of transit transportation, including the processing of international transport documents through the CMR system.
“We have unified the electronic system with Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and, more recently, Kazakhstan. Work is continuing with Russia and China. Foreign carriers can now submit applications, pay fees and obtain permits electronically without travelling to Azerbaijan,” he said.
Abilov noted that the digital services are aimed at accelerating and simplifying transport processes along international corridors crossing Azerbaijan.
He also expressed confidence that the forum would serve as an effective platform for sharing experience, strengthening international cooperation in freight transportation and ensuring stable cargo flows.
