AzerGold warns of fraudulent investment schemes and phishing attacks
Azerbaijan’s state gold mining company AzerGold has warned the public about a renewed rise in fraudulent investment and advertising campaigns using the company’s name on social media and other online platforms.
AzerGold said fraudsters were offering purported high-return investments, illegally using the company’s logo, corporate branding and images of its executives, and directing users to fake websites designed to resemble its official site.
In some cases, individuals are contacted through foreign telephone numbers or messaging applications and asked to provide bank card details, identification data, one-time verification codes and other confidential information.
AzerGold said it does not raise investments through social media or other unofficial platforms and does not request financial or banking information from members of the public.
The company urged people not to open suspicious links or share personal and financial data, and to report suspected fraud to law enforcement authorities.
