Chinese train cars considered for Baku Metro expansion as talks held with CRRC
Chinese-manufactured rolling stock could be introduced to the Baku Metro network as part of its plan to procure 299 new train cars by 2030.
Bakhtiyar Mammadov, spokesperson for Baku Metro CJSC, stated that company representatives have evaluated manufacturing capabilities and exchanged technical expertise with several foreign suppliers, including China's CRRC Corporation.
Mammadov noted that the final vendor will be selected through a public tender or state contract. Any international manufacturer producing modern fourth-generation trains that meet Baku Metro's technical specifications will be eligible to bid.
