Full commissioning of Darnagul metro depot targeted for late 2027 or early 2028
Baku Metro CJSC has commissioned 12 depot tracks under the second construction phase of the Darnagul electric depot, with full operational capacity targeted for late 2027 or early 2028, Chief Engineer Namiq Yusubov stated to Anews.az during a press tour.
"Currently, 12 tracks have been put into operation—three designated for lifting facilities and nine for inspection and repair bays," Yusubov explained.
He noted that following the completion of the project's next phase and required tunnel construction, independent train operations will be fully established across both the Red and Green lines.
The full activation of the Darnagul depot serves as a cornerstone for Baku Metro's strategic initiative to decouple the Red and Green lines. Currently, rolling stock for both branches relies solely on the Narimanov depot. Once separated, Green Line trains will operate autonomously along the Darnagul–Khatai corridor, significantly reducing headways and enhancing overall network capacity.
