Azerbaijan retail trade hits 32.4 bln manats in H1 2026 as Agdara leads surge
Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover expanded by 3.7% year-on-year in the first half of 2026 to reach 32.39 billion manats, according to the State Statistics Committee.
The fastest growth rates were concentrated across the liberated territories. Retail turnover in Agdara surged 3.8-fold (+283.6%) to 2.49 million manats, followed by Khojaly with a 65.6% jump to 6.64 million manats, Khankendi with a 33.8% gain to 8.7 million manats, Zangilan with a 32.1% increase to 11 million manats, and Jabrayil up 27.3% to 16.8 million manats. Kalbajar registered a 23.4% rise (5 million manats), Masalli grew 23.4% (386.5 million manats), Shusha rose 19.2%, and Sumgayit climbed 10.2%.
Among economic regions, Eastern Zangazur posted the steepest expansion, climbing 9.8% to 153.2 million manats. The Absheron-Khizi region expanded 8% to 1.97 billion manats, Lankaran-Astara rose 6% to 1.38 billion manats, and the Karabakh economic region climbed 4.2% to 882.4 million manats. Retail trade in Baku rose 4.4% to 19.13 billion manats, accounting for roughly 59% of total nationwide sales. Conversely, the largest declines occurred in Dashkasan (-4.8%) and Zardab (-4.2%).
