Azerbaijan Railways Passenger Traffic Surges 18% to Over 7.3 Million in Jan-Aug

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) transported more than 7.3 million passengers in the first eight months of 2026, marking an 18% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year, the state rail operator reported.

The Absheron circular railway carried the bulk of the volume at 6.9 million passengers, up 17% year-on-year. Interregional regional routes transported 396,000 riders (+15%), while the international Baku-Tbilisi-Baku link registered 53,000 travelers.

In August alone, total rail passenger traffic expanded by 24% year-on-year, topping 913,000 individuals.
