Azerbaijan Railways passenger traffic up 18% to over 7.3 million in Jan–Aug

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) transported more than 7.3 million passengers across January–August 2026, marking an 18% increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

According to ADY, the Absheron circular railway carried 6.9 million passengers (up 17%), domestic regional lines handled 396,000 travelers (up 15%), and the international Baku–Tbilisi–Baku service transported 53,000 passengers during the eight-month span.

In August alone, passenger volume rose 24% year-on-year, reaching 913,568 passengers.
