Magnitude 5.4 quake hits Azerbaijan’s northeast

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit northeast of Azerbaijan on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter was 15 km south-east of the town of Oguz and 28 km west of the town of Qabala. Tremors were also felt in Agdash, Goychay, Shaki and other districts of the country.

There have been no reports of deaths or injuries.

The quake caused minor damages to residential buildings, according to local media reports.
