Ilham Aliyev addresses Baku Security Forum on AI terror risks

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed participants of the 4th Baku Security Forum, themed "New Challenges in Global Security Architecture and the Formation of Effective Mechanisms for Counter-Terrorism Cooperation." Emphasizing that escalating geopolitical rivalry and eroding international trust make national defense architecture an urgent global priority, Aliyev noted that security threats no longer stop at national borders, with localized tensions capable of disrupting worldwide energy, food, and transport corridors.

The head of state raised particular concern over the weaponization of emerging technologies, highlighting that the malicious exploitation of artificial intelligence and digital tools fuels radicalization, broadens extremist recruitment, and expands terror financing channels.

Stressing the necessity of pre-emptive intelligence sharing and institutional trust among security agencies, Aliyev reaffirmed Baku’s role as an international dialogue platform dedicated to countering transnational organized crime and terrorism.
