Trial of Namized Safarov begins in Baku

The trial of lawyer Namized Safarov began in Baku on Thursday, local media reported.

During the preliminary hearing, the court reviewed procedural issues and scheduled the next session.

Safarov was arrested in 2025 and faces fraud-related charges. He denies wrongdoing.

The court rejected a defence request to replace his pre-trial detention with house arrest.
