Azerbaijan moves to join Metre Convention
Azerbaijan’s parliament has approved in the first reading a draft law on the country’s accession to the Metre Convention.
The draft was discussed at an extraordinary session of the Milli Majlis and put to a vote.
The Metre Convention is an international agreement that laid the foundation for a unified global system of measurements and international standardisation.
The convention was signed in Paris on May 20, 1875 by representatives of 17 states.
Azerbaijan’s accession is aimed at strengthening international cooperation in metrology, standardisation and the uniformity of measurements.
