Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov Meets Newly Appointed Austrian Ambassador
Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Azerbaijan, Etienne Berchtold.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Berchtold presented a copy of his credentials to the minister. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation across political, economic, energy, transport, tourism, and humanitarian sectors, as well as coordination within multilateral platforms including the UN, OSCE, and the European Union. Minister Bayramov also congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
The discussion highlighted Azerbaijan's expanding role in European energy security, with both officials welcoming the launch of Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Austria in January. Minister Bayramov briefed the diplomat on post-conflict regional developments, the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, and extensive reconstruction projects across liberated territories. Ambassador Berchtold reaffirmed that Austria views Azerbaijan as a key, reliable partner and pledged to actively advance bilateral ties during his diplomatic tenure.
