The feasibility study for the integration of the power systems of Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia has been completed, and the three countries are ready to move forward with practical implementation. In the first phase, up to 200 MW of electricity will be transmitted from Russia to Iran via Azerbaijan’s grid.

The announcement was made by Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak during a roundtable titled “Russia–Iran: Localizing Gas Turbine Production” held in Kazan.

“Discussions are actively ongoing. Around 200 MW can already be transferred to Iran through Azerbaijan. We are awaiting the official position of our Azerbaijani colleagues. We have agreed to hold trilateral consultations soon. The feasibility study is complete — we know the costs, and the project is technically feasible,” Grabchak said.

The project aims to establish an integrated regional power network to improve energy supply stability and facilitate electricity exchange among the three countries.
