Ex-presidential aide in Azerbaijan questioned by investigators

Ramiz Mehtiyev, the former head of Azerbaijan’s presidential administration who is under house arrest, was questioned for nearly seven hours by the State Security Service’s investigative department on Monday, local outlet Gununsesi.info reported.

Mehtiyev arrived with a cane and was accompanied by a state-appointed lawyer, Zaur Abyev.

Earlier, the Sabail district court placed him under four months of house arrest. He faces charges of attempting to seize power (Article 278.1), treason (Article 274) and large-scale money laundering (Article 193-1.3.2).
