New earthquake hits Kahramanmaraş

New earthquake hits Kahramanmaraş
24.10.2025 10:01

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck Türkiye’s Kahramanmaraş province at 22:08 local time, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The epicenter was located at a depth of 7.11 kilometers.

Kahramanmaraş was among the regions most affected by the devastating February 6, 2023 earthquakes in southeastern Türkiye, which measured 7.8 and 7.5 in magnitude and struck 11 provinces including Gaziantep, Hatay and Malatya.

Tens of thousands of people were killed, and hundreds of thousands were left homeless. The disaster was caused by activity along the East Anatolian fault, where tectonic plates collide.

Türkiye declared a state of emergency, and rescue teams from more than 80 countries — including Azerbaijan — took part in relief operations.
