Zelenskiy arrives in United States for talks with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has arrived in the United States, according to a statement published on his Telegram channel.

During the visit, Zelenskiy plans to meet U.S. President Donald Trump and attend a memorial ceremony for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who died on July 11.

Zelenskiy said the talks with Trump and members of his administration would focus on strengthening Ukraine’s missile defence and the country’s strategic partnership with the United States.

Trump is expected to discuss possible ways of ending the Russia-Ukraine war. All U.S. senators have also been invited to the meeting.

The talks will take place as Congress considers legislation proposing additional sanctions against Russia.

The Trump-Zelenskiy meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Baku time.
