German chancellor to discuss Turkey’s peace initiatives on Russia-Ukraine talks

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will visit Turkey on October 30, where he will be briefed on Ankara’s initiatives aimed at restarting peace talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, a Turkish diplomatic source told RIA Novosti.

Deputy government spokesman Sebastian Hille earlier said Merz would meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the visit.

The talks will cover the full range of bilateral cooperation and regional issues, including Syria and Gaza. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is also expected to take part.
