An explosion occurred at the Sterlitamak petrochemical plant in Russia’s Bashkortostan region early Friday, partially damaging the water treatment facility, local authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Regional head Radiy Khabirov later said the industrial complex was attacked by two drones, which were shot down by defense and security forces. Debris fell in the plant’s industrial zone, and operations continue as normal.

Russia’s aviation agency suspended flights at Ufa airport as a precaution following the incident.
