EU mulls tighter visa rules for Russians

EU mulls tighter visa rules for Russians
07.11.2025 10:00

The European Commission is considering new restrictions on issuing visas to Russian citizens, Commission spokesman Markus Lammert said at a briefing in Brussels, DW reported.

Lammert noted that a full visa ban is beyond the Commission’s authority, but it can adopt stricter or more lenient rules for multiple-entry Schengen visas based on migration and security concerns.

Earlier, Politico reported that the EU was planning to limit Russians mostly to single-entry visas, with exceptions for humanitarian reasons and dual EU citizens, as part of measures linked to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
