Israel warns U.S. of potential Iranian attack disguised as military drills

Israel has alerted the United States to intelligence suggesting Iran may be preparing for a direct attack under the cover of ongoing military exercises by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to reports citing regional sources and Axios.

The warning was delivered during a Saturday phone call between Israel’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, and General Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Zamir reportedly expressed grave concern over recent IRGC missile movements, suggesting they could serve as a pretext for a surprise strike.

Israel has called for heightened coordination with U.S. forces to bolster regional defense systems. Neither the Pentagon nor Tehran has officially commented on the reports.

Tensions between Israel and Iran have reached a fever pitch in 2025 following a series of shadow war escalations. Iran’s missile program remains a primary concern for Western intelligence, while Israel has repeatedly vowed to prevent Tehran from achieving strategic military breakthroughs.

The IRGC's "war games" are frequently used as a show of force in the Persian Gulf and Levant, often leading to increased U.S. naval presence in the region to deter potential disruptions to global oil shipping lanes.
