Gale-force Winds in Baku up to 28 m/s and Heavy Snowfall

As of 10:00 AM on January 14, 2026, the National Hydrometeorological Service reports gale-force northwest winds reaching 28 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. Sleet is falling in the capital, while heavy snow is recorded in mountainous regions.

Snow depth has reached 30 cm in Zaqatala and 29 cm in Shahbuz. Visibility is restricted to 500 meters in several districts due to dense fog.

With temperatures around 4°C in Baku and -10°C in the mountains, authorities advise residents to stay indoors where possible and be extremely cautious of falling objects and slippery roads.
