Azerbaijan identifies Armenian disinformation accounts

Azerbaijan identifies Armenian disinformation accounts
15.01.2026 09:31

Azerbaijani authorities said on Tuesday that several social media accounts accused of spreading unfounded allegations against state institutions are linked to citizens of Armenia.

According to official statements, an account named “Palitra” on Facebook and a related profile “palitranews1” on TikTok list Armenia as their place of registration.

The accounts were operated by Yerevan residents Edgar Gazaryan and Olga Smbatyan.

An examination of the pages found that they did not publish original investigations, instead reposting content from other sources that Azerbaijani officials say was aimed at discrediting the policies of Azerbaijan.

Baku said the activities of bloggers and social media users accused of spreading disinformation against the country should be further examined, adding that such actions raise concerns amid ongoing regional peace discussions.
