Iran Judiciary Orders Asset Seizure of Protesters to Fund Damage Reparations
26.01.2026 09:30

Iran’s Chief Justice, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, has ordered the expedited trial of recent protest participants, mandating the confiscation of their private property to compensate for state and private damages.

Speaking to judicial officials, Ejei emphasized that demonstrators must be held financially accountable for "rioting" alongside criminal penalties.

The directive specifically targets high-profile supporters, including celebrities and business owners, whose assets are being frozen to prevent further dissent.

However, Ejei cautioned that seizures should not halt industrial operations or increase unemployment. He reiterated the regime's stance that the "violent sedition" was orchestrated and funded by the United States and Israel, while insisting that despite public demands for swift justice, the principle of due process must be maintained.
