At least 80 detainees were released from prisons across Venezuela on Saturday amid pressure from the United States, Venezuelan human rights group Foro Penal said.

The group’s director, Alfredo Romero, said activists were still verifying the identities of those freed.

According to the BBC, the releases mark the latest group freed following recent actions by the United States involving Venezuela’s leadership. Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodriguez said on Friday that more than 600 detainees had been released in total, a figure Foro Penal says is overstated.

Those previously confirmed as freed include members of Venezuela’s opposition as well as five Spanish nationals.
