Detained journalist allowed to attend his mother’s funeral

Detained journalist Shamshad Agha has been granted permission to attend the funeral of his mother, who died a day earlier, his lawyer Javad Javadov said.

According to the lawyer, the Baku Serious Crimes Court has allowed Agha to take part in the funeral and mourning ceremonies for a period of three days.

Agha was detained in connection with the “Meydan TV case” and is charged under Article 206.3.2 of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, which covers smuggling committed by a group of persons acting in prior collusion.
