More than 1,400 residential buildings in the Ukrainian capital are currently without heating following extensive damage to the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant (TPP), Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced. The facility was hit during an attack on February 3, leaving approximately 1,126 high-rise buildings in the Darnytksyi and Dniprovskyi districts without a viable heat source for at least two months.

In response, the Kyiv City Council is preparing a financial support mechanism to provide interest-free loans for apartment block co-owners to purchase generators and autonomous power sources. This initiative aims to assist residential communities that lack the immediate capital to secure backup energy solutions during the ongoing martial law period.
