Due to the deterioration of the security situation in certain regions of Mexico, the Azerbaijani embassy in the country has issued an appeal to Azerbaijani citizens.

The relevant statement was shared on the embassy’s official X social media account. The post states that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who are visiting or temporarily residing in Mexico are advised to closely follow and strictly comply with the security recommendations issued by local authorities in the state of Jalisco, as well as in the neighboring states of Michoacán, Guanajuato, Colima, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, and Nayarit.

“Our citizens are requested to remain vigilant, observe personal safety precautions, avoid mass gatherings and high-risk areas, and follow only information disseminated through official sources,” the statement reads.

It should be noted that the leader of one of Mexico’s largest criminal organizations, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” was killed in a military operation. Following the operation, members of the group set fire to numerous vehicles in Jalisco and other states. Clashes occurred between security forces and cartel members.
