Natural gas consumption in the European Union decreased by 4.4% year-on-year in February of this year, reaching 37 billion cubic meters, citing a report by the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

According to the report, the decline was mainly driven by lower heating demand in the residential sector, which is explained by milder weather conditions across much of the region.

It is reported that during the same period, natural gas consumption in the United States decreased by 4% year-on-year to 87 billion cubic meters.

“This reflects weakening demand in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors,” the report noted.

Recall that since December 31, 2020, Azerbaijani gas has been transported to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
