Shahbazov discusses energy projects, cooperation with bp

Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov discussed cooperation in oil, gas and renewable energy with bp’s regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Giovanni Cristofoli.

The talks covered maintaining stable output at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, the use of new technologies and improving operational efficiency.

The sides also reviewed developments at the Shah Deniz field, the Shah Deniz Compression project and first gas from the ACG-associated gas project.

Prospects for developing the Shafag-Asiman, Karabakh and Babek fields were discussed, with the projects expected to boost gas export capacity.

They also discussed electrification of offshore platforms and the Sangachal terminal, as well as the Shafag solar power plant planned for commissioning in 2027.
