The teacher forgives the student who shot her in Baku school
A teacher at the Idrak Lyceum in Baku has forgiven a student who shot her, with the parties reaching a reconciliation and submitting the relevant document to investigators, local media reported.
An expert examination found that the teenager has mental health issues but was aware of his actions and able to control them. This does not exempt him from criminal liability but may be considered a mitigating factor, according to the report.
The case will be sent to court after the indictment is approved.
The incident occurred in February, when a 10th-grade student shot the 29-year-old mathematics teacher with his father’s hunting rifle. He has been charged with attempted murder, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
