Azerbaijan, Syria discuss infrastructure rebuilding cooperation ahead of WUF13
Azerbaijan and Syria discussed expanding cooperation in housing construction, infrastructure rehabilitation and urban development ahead of Baku’s hosting of World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13).
The discussions were held between Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Chairman Anar Guliyev and Syria’s Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mohammad Anjarani, according to official sources.
The sides exchanged views on post-conflict reconstruction, sustainable urban development, housing policy and infrastructure modernization.
The meeting comes as Azerbaijan seeks to promote its reconstruction model in the territories regained after the conflict, including “smart city” and “smart village” concepts, as a potential case study for other post-conflict regions.
Baku is set to host WUF13, one of the world’s largest forums dedicated to urbanization and sustainable city development, in May 2026.
