Drivers entering temporary special traffic lanes introduced in Baku for the World Urban Forum (WUF13) from May 15 will face fines, Azerbaijani authorities said.

The dedicated lanes have been granted bus-lane status and operate on several major roads in the Azerbaijani capital, including Heydar Aliyev Avenue-Airport Highway, Yusif Safarov Street, Mikayil Mushfig Street and Mehdi Abbasov Street.

The Interior Ministry said traffic by unauthorized vehicles in the so-called “green lanes” would be strictly monitored and treated as a traffic violation.

WUF13 will be held in Baku on May 17-22 and is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants.
