AYNA chief says Baku public transport remains overcrowded
The head of Azerbaijan’s Land Transport Agency, Anar Rzayev, said overcrowding remains one of the main problems in Baku’s public transport system.
Rzayev told Report that he mostly uses the Baku Metro, as AYNA’s office is located in the Narimanov district while the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is close to the Sahil metro station.
He said he occasionally uses buses but mostly prefers walking, as the area where he lives has pedestrian infrastructure and underpasses.
Rzayev said his family members mainly use bus routes No. 26, 202 and 3. He added that renewal of the bus fleet on route No. 26 has not yet been completed.
AYNA aims to reduce public transport occupancy from about 90% to 70%, he said, adding that some progress had been made but more work was needed.
