Gold falls below $4,500, silver drops under $75
Gold and silver prices started the week lower on the COMEX exchange in New York.
Gold futures for June delivery fell below $4,500 per troy ounce for the first time since March 30, 2026, declining 1.43% to $4,496.7.
Silver futures also dropped below $75 per troy ounce for the first time since May 5, falling 4.14% to $74.33.
Higher oil prices, inflation concerns and expectations that interest rates may stay elevated for longer weighed on precious metals.
