King of Eswatini: We are pleased to witness development and modernization in Azerbaijan
“We are pleased to witness development and modernization in Azerbaijan," His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini said during the Leaders’ Session within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
“It is a great honor for me to participate and speak at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in this beautiful city, Baku, under such an important theme as ‘Housing the World: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.’ This theme serves one of the key responsibilities of our era — ensuring that development enhances human dignity and improves the quality of life for all people. In different parts of the world, billions of people still face harsh realities such as inadequate housing conditions, rapid urbanization, climate disasters, poverty and lack of infrastructure. These challenges affect both developed and developing countries regardless of region and level of development. At the center of all these problems stands the human being. Therefore, housing is not simply concrete and steel. Housing embodies dignity, security, stability and hope. A home is the foundation of strong families and resilient communities,” the King of Eswatini noted.
The King of Eswatini said that we must invest in renewable energy, green infrastructure, climate-resilient systems, smart technologies and sustainable construction methods, while at the same time always keeping people at the center of attention: “While investing in new energy sources, we must find a balance between renewable energy and traditional electricity sources in order to ensure the sustainable development of our economies. As we hold discussions within the framework of the forum, let us remain committed to practical solutions and renewed determination to build inclusive, sustainable, safe and resilient cities and communities. Let us act not only for our own generation, but also for future generations who will inherit the decisions we make today. President Ilham Aliyev, I would like to express my deep gratitude to you, the Government and people of Azerbaijan for the sincere hospitality shown to me. It is a special source of pride for me that the beginning of my education is connected with this beautiful city of Baku. We are pleased to witness the impressive development and modernization being carried out in your great country. Baku has become a symbol of how to combine innovation and progress while preserving its rich heritage,” the King of Eswatini noted.
