Azerbaijan to complete climate monitoring system modernisation by 2030
Azerbaijan plans to complete the creation of a modern multi-level climate monitoring and early warning system by 2030, Deputy Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Umayra Taghiyeva said at WUF13 in Baku.
Taghiyeva said the modernisation of the early warning system is one of the key priorities of the country’s climate adaptation policy under the National Adaptation Plan and the “Great Return” programme.
She said Azerbaijan has significantly upgraded its national meteorological infrastructure over the past five years, with 73% of systems already automated and equipped with modern technologies.
To complete the modernisation by 2030, Azerbaijan needs advanced forecasting and verification systems, local weather forecast models and climate analysis for different sectors, she said.
