Baku considers launching tram lines by 2028
Authorities in Baku are considering options for the development of tram lines with the aim of putting them into operation by 2028, Tarlan Safarov, head of the Baku Regional Department of AYNA, said during an event dedicated to Baku’s Master Plan.
According to him, the development of the public transport system remains one of the city’s main priorities, and several projects are currently being implemented in this area.
Safarov said the agency’s primary focus is on strengthening public transportation through various initiatives.
He noted that around 2,300 buses currently operate on routes across the city every day, serving approximately 5 million passengers daily.
He added that efforts to expand the transport network are ongoing, while the development of the metro system also remains in focus.
“Ten new strategies have been prepared to improve urban accessibility. Work is underway on the development of the Red and Green metro lines,” Safarov said.
