Lithuania interested in using Middle Corridor via Azerbaijan
Lithuania is interested in using the Middle Corridor for cargo transportation between Europe, Central Asia and China, Julius Skakauskas, head of the Lithuanian Transport Innovation Association, told journalists at the TransLogistica forum in Baku.
He said Azerbaijan plays a key role in the development of the Middle Corridor, whose importance for international trade and logistics is growing.
“Lithuania has developed transport infrastructure, and the transport sector accounts for 20% of the country’s GDP. We would like to use the Middle Corridor to deliver goods from Europe to Central Asia and China, as well as in the opposite direction. Lithuania’s participation could help improve the efficiency of the Middle Corridor,” Skakauskas said.
He noted that the development of alternative transport routes creates new opportunities for expanding trade and economic ties between Europe and Asia.
