Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas-condensate field is currently producing around 27 billion cubic metres of gas a year and more than 80,000 barrels of condensate per day, project operator BP-Azerbaijan said.

Production is carried out under the Shah Deniz Stage 1 and Shah Deniz Stage 2 projects.

According to BP, Shah Deniz Stage 2 alone produces around 17 billion cubic metres of gas annually.

The field’s existing production facilities have capacity of more than 76 million cubic metres of gas per day, or over 28 billion cubic metres a year.

The Shah Deniz production-sharing agreement was signed in Baku on June 4, 1996, and ratified by Azerbaijan’s parliament on Oct. 17 of the same year.

The project partners are BP as operator with a 29.99% stake, Lukoil with 19.99%, TPAO with 19%, NICO with 10%, Southern Gas Corridor with 16.02% and MVM with 5%.
