Azerbaijani crime figure detained in St Petersburg
Russian law enforcement authorities have detained Azerbaijani national Yusif Aliyev, described by media reports as a senior organised crime figure, in St Petersburg.
According to Russian sources, the 54-year-old had been on an international wanted list since 2008 and is accused of a number of serious crimes, including the murder of two or more people.
He is also accused of holding a senior position in the criminal hierarchy, a charge that carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years under Russian law.
